The people of Dahab, in South Sinai, Egypt invite you to attend the first ever Dahab International Festival of Water Sports, Culture and Desert Adventure on the 14th – 20st April 2012. This week long event has been organised by members of the Dahab Community to showcase what this beautiful small resort town has to offer.

The town of Dahab is just 90 kilometers North of Sharm El Sheikh, originally a small Bedouin fishing village which grew into a vibrant tourist town. The town features a rich tapestry of coral reefs in the Red Sea, amazing views, rugged mountains, desert landscapes and a multicultural population. A beach promenade lined with excellent restaurants and many places to truly relax.

The festival will bring together all aspects of the activities, water sports, culture and adventure’s possible in Dahab.

The Red Sea – Discover Our Water World

Dive the Depths of Dahab – There will be free try dives for beginners and free guided dives for experienced divers. Explore the world famous Blue Hole, or the remote sites in Ras Abu Gallum on a camel diving adventure. During the festival there will be buoyancy competitions, talks from Dahab’s expert divers, conservation seminars and much more fun to be had under the Red Sea.

Going Deep On A Single Breath – Join the Lotte Ericson and experienced Free Divers and learn how to dive down deep on a single breathe of air. Try free diving sessions will be available as well as competitions with the experts.

Windsurf Over the Rea Sea – Take a board and sail away over the Red Sea around the Lagoon area of Dahab and see things in a different way. Free taster sessions, lessons and wind surf fun. Watch competitions with some of Wind Surfing’s International talents, enjoy watching their tricks as they play with the wind.

Flying with the Wind – Kite Surfing is becoming more and more popular in Dahab and it is one of the most amazing water sports to watch. Throughout the festival there will be kite surfing taster sessions, competitions and loads of fun.

Earth – Experiencing the Bedouin Life of South Sinai

Discover life the Bedouin way in South Sinai - during the week there will be a wealth of Bedouin Cultural Activities including Bedouin Bread Making, Craft Demonstrations and drink Bedouin Tea. A Camel Race will be the highlight of the Cultural Events, finishing with an amazing Bedouin Dinner and Music Party with local musicians at the Lagoona.

There will be Bedouin Guides ready to help you explore the local valleys and to take you on excursions into the Desert for nature walks, treks or combining snorkeling with desert adventures.

Healing & Alternative Dahab

Inspirational Dahab - A number of healers, yoga teachers and masseurs will be taking part in the festival, offering free trial sessions of Crystal healing, Reiki sessions, Massages, Meditation and Yoga classes at various locations around Dahab. Come and be rejuvenated and inspired.

During the week there will be movie and documentary screenings, art exhibitions, craft and community markets, competitions and games, cooking classes and many more activities to keep you entertained or the chance to learn something new.

Something for the Young Ones

Lots of Fun under the Sun - Dahab’s famous children’s circus ‘Bon Boni’ will be performing during the festival, showcasing the talents of the children in Dahab. Also for the children their will be baking lessons with the German Bakery, Treasure Hunts, Games and lots of fun!

Live Bands, Musicians and Parties

Party Night and Day - Every night of the festival their will be party nights including a big opening and end party featuring live bands and musicians, DJ’s playing excellent dance tunes, fire dancers, all outdoors and under the stars.

We are pleased to announce that singer Natasha Atlas has promised to dedicate a forthcoming concert in Europe to the Dahab Festival as she is unable to make it to this year’s event. A video of the event will be screened during the week.

Accommodation during the event is available to suit all budgets and tastes. Ranging from budget camps and hotels with rooms from as little as 7 euro per night, up to 5 star luxury resorts with all modern conveniences. Self catering Apartments which are great for groups and families, also are available with some directly on the beach. Booking can be made directly with the local accommodation providers or with your travel agent.
